REVIEW | Jacobs & Co. Steakhouse, a classy & sophisticated steakhouse on King West

There's a good number of steakhouses in Toronto that are supposed to be "the best," one of them being Jacobs & Co. Steakhouse, which has been on our list for quite a while. With my birthday being the perfect excuse to go splurge on a dinner, we finally made a visit.  We were excited to finally get a taste of their famous in house dry-aged steaks. Located just off King St. and Spadina Ave., the restaurant is really accessible with a few spaces for parking in front of the restaurant as well as valet parking option.

Jacob's is its own low rise building that looks a bit industrial until you open the door and it feels like you're in an underground secret society.  Walk down the dimly lit stairs and you'll be greeted by the hostesses that will take you to one of their dining rooms - we were seating in the second floor and it was quiet with only a few tables filled around 6:30 P.M. By 8 P.M. though, the room quickly filled up.

Aperol Spritz ($12.00) & Jacob's Negroni ($12.00)
Lovely cocktails to ease the stress from a long day.

Fresh our of the oven! Complimentary Cheese Popovers were served with butter spread. Warm, soft and fluffy inside, we couldn't stop eating these.

Jacob's Caesar Salad ($18.00) - house-made croutons, double smoked bacon, reggiano parmigiano, egg yolk, lemon juice, anchovies, garlic, tobacco, Worcester sauce, sea salt, red wine vinegar & olive oil on romaine lettuce. And yes, it was the best Caesar Salad we've ever had, and the server making these table-side just made it that much more special.

Beef Tartare ($24.00) - anchovy, capers, egg yolk & truffle oil served with crostini
What a big portion! This was a little too much for just myself and Clara but nonetheless, absolutely delicious.

Our side of choice was the Broccolini ($13.00) with cheese sauce & gremolata.

USDA Prime Black Angus Ribeye (14oz.) - this was the perfect portion - not to big or not too small. The crust was perfect and it was very tender and juicy. We also enjoyed the 6 different salts and sauces that accompany the steak (see below).

Trio of sauces: Bacon & Blue Cheese / Japanese Ponzu / Chimichurri

Trio of salts: Volcanic Lava Salt / Hickory Smoked Sea Salt (light brown) / Sea Salt (white)

House-Churned Ice Cream & Sorbet ($13.00) in peach, rum raisin & chocolate chip cookie dough

Overall, our first experience at Jacobs & Co. was just as what we expected - spectacular service and food. However, because of the high price tag (even though it's worth it),  save it for the special occasions!
