OPENING | Nam Sandwich - a new bao & Vietnamese sandwich shop near Trinity Bellwoods

There's a new Vietnamese sandwich shop in the city, located just West of Trinity Bellwoods Park on West Queen West. Last weekend, I was invited to the new Nam Sandwich Shop to get a bite of some of their delicious offerings.

The space is very clean and open for a small restaurant that seats 20. With the main counter to order/pick up food in the middle and a straight forward chalkboard menu on the right, Nam Sandwich strives to provide efficient service for their diners. The large communal table in the middle can cater to groups while the window seats & bars allow singles to stop by for a quick bite.

The exposed brick wall gives this otherwise modern space some character of the West of Queen West neighbourhood!

With 6 Vietnamese sandwich, 2 Baos and 3 Roll choices, it's easy to want to order everything. Nothing is over $6 price wise, so it's pretty affordable compared to other eateries nearby.

Thai Iced Tea ($3.00)

Pork Belly Bao ($4.00) - cucumber, scallion & hoisin sauce

Lemongrass Grilled Chicken Nam Sandwich ($6.00) - soy lemongrass grilled chicken, pickled daikon radish, carrot, cilantro & cucumber

The baguette for the sandwich is baked fresh daily in-house and they are generous with their toppings.  You can watch your sandwich being made with their completely open kitchen! One menu item that stood out to me was the sandwich with eggplant (vegetarian option), I will need to come back for that one. I also suggest having the pork bao - it's a good size with simple but satisfying toppings. Also love that I can get a Thai Iced Tea for $3!
