When Clara and I get together with our friends, we love playing games: board games, charades, you name it! There's something so fun and appealing about board games especially that can keep everyone entertained and having a good time. Last week, we were invited for a game night at the Snakes & Lagers location on College and Bathurst to celebrate a launch of Mattel Game On's newest addition, Bounce Off! There's no better place to do this than Toronto's most popular board game cafe & bar.
Mattel Game On's popular games include: Apples to Apples, Uno, Mad Gab, Balderdash, Phase 10, Rock'em Sock'em (old school fave), Pictionary (my all time favourite game of choice) and the list goes on. The Mattel girls put us in groups to experience some of their most popular games placed throughout the bar, while enjoying some delicious snacks as well!
We first played at the Apples to Apples station. Despite the fact that it was my first time playing (with strangers at that), I was able to pick up the game easily and quickly and soon we were cracking up about the ridiculous phrases we were all coming up with. This game definitely made it to my 'fun games list.'
Then, we were in the Pictionary station - my favourite! The more terrible the drawing, the more fun it is to guess because we just let imagination run wild.
Petit Mac Sliders ($6.00 each or $15.00 for 3)
Bounce Off is the newest addition to the Mattel Game On family and I can see this game becoming a favourite to many, many people. The object of the game is to bounce the blue or yellow ping-pong looking balls to mimic the same pattern on the card. It's harder than it seems, but if you're good at beer pong, you might have good chance at mastering this game.
Fresh Rolls with Shrimp ($6.00 each or $15.00 for 3)
Potato Skillet
It was my first time at Snakes & Lagers and I quickly fell in love with the home-like vibe, variety of games (what other bar do you know that has board games?), cozy patio and the tasty snacks they serve. I would love to spend a Friday or Saturday afternoon or night with a few drinks playing some Pictionary with my friends. Wouldn't you?
