Two Friends, One Fiesta & a Whole Lot of Food & Drinks in #the6ix

We just recently moved downtown and needless to say, the food possibilities are endless! As much as we love living downtown, the one thing we do miss is having a car. Everything downtown is easily accessible but there's nothing like getting into a car and knowing you'll be where you need to go without any delays!

We were fortunate enough to take the Ford Fiesta around the 6ix for a big foodie adventure! Keep reading to find out where we ventured off to!

LAUNCH | Boston Pizza's all-star menu items this summer

Summer in Toronto comes and goes so fast that sometimes we feel like we don't have enough time to enjoy all there is that Toronto has to offer. We're on a mission to try as many food and drinks as we can and a couple of weekends ago, we made a visit to Boston Pizza to try out their new summer menu while watching the Blue Jays Game!

REVIEW | Boku Sushi

The night Toronto got 20cm of snow was the night I was at dinner for some sushi and sake - so dedicated, right? Located on Gristmill Lane in the Distillery District, Boku serves a variety of Japanese specialties including blow torched sushi, sashimi and omakase.

LAUNCH | A Taste of FELIX LA at Gusto 101's Private Wine Cellar

Last week felt like real Canadian winter in Toronto: snowy, slushy and dreadful. Thankfully I had a memorable dinner in the Private Wine Cellar at Gusto 101 - one of my favourite Italian restaurants in the city. The Prosecco, wines and of course the food left me and my tastebuds so satisfied that the cold was the last thing on my mind for the rest of the week.

REVIEW | Feast ON 7-Course Dinner Experience at Spirit Tree Cidery

First off, let me just say that I love beef and cheese. When I heard about the Feast ON dinner featuring both, I couldn't say no. I invited my friend along for a mini road trip to Terra Cotta, just South West of Caledon for this 6-course dinner featuring cider pairings from Spirit Tree Cidery.

EVENT | Ford Canada's Farm-to-Car Dinner at Actinolite Restaurant

How much do you know about what goes into making a car? I for one, didn't know at all what kind of materials or ingredients are used in creating a vehicle of any sort except for the typical plastic, petroleum, etc. When I was invited to a dinner to learn about Ford Canada's use of food by-products in their cars, I really had no idea what to expect. Food in cars? What?! After a wonderful dinner at Actinolite, I definitely left with my mind blown - the cars are really becoming greener and more environmentally friendly from the inside, and out.

LAUNCH | Mighty Angus Burger for Mighty Mcdonald's Canada

Fast food is called fast food for a reason, it's in and out for those who are on the go or have no time. Don't let that fool you though, there is nothing fast about the time it takes for a new item to make it onto Mcdonald's Canada permanent menu as we learned when we attended the Mighty Angus Open Kitchen Flavour Session.

Who said summer's coming to an end? With better weather than ever before in Toronto, it's hard to head home after a day of work. Because they have 10 new menu items offer at $4 each, between 4PM and 7PM everyday.  I mean, if you go with a friend and order everything, it's $20 per person - how awesome is that? Cheers!

EVENT | Brunch In The City with Canola Eat Well at Windsor Arms Hotel

Both Clara and I are big fans of brunches and we're not ones to ever pass up on an opportunity to do so. A week ago, I received an invitation for a "Brunch In The City"at the Windsor Arms Hotel, hosted by Abbey Sharp and Chef Christine Tizzard, so of course I said yes!  I went with an empty stomach and curiosity about what I'll be learning about Canola Oil.

WORKSHOP | Minute Rice Instant - an understated ingredient for creative, family-friendly meals

Using anything "instant" or "frozen" is pretty much the biggest faux pas in the culinary world where fresh is always better and while we agree, we can't always follow that rule when we are so busy with our everyday jobs.

Luckily for us, Chef John Higgins, Director of the George Brown Chef School showed us how to elevate Minute Rice to the next level to create some pretty fantastic dishes (dessert included!)

REVIEW | NAO Steakhouse

A good steakhouse is like a needle in a haystack .You know it's there but it's so hard to find. Steak on its own seems like a simple concept, a piece of meat that doesn't require much seasoning and just heat to cook. Yet people everywhere ourselves included have struggled to cook that perfect steak.

Thankfully there are great steakhouses around in Toronto that save us the trouble of slaving over the stove. NAO Steakhouse in Yorkville offers an extensive meat selection as well as other dinner entree options that's not just steak!

REVIEW | Ovest Cucina e Vineria

Ovest Cucina e Vineria, a cantina inspired Italian Kitchen has recently set roots in the ever growing King West District. With its wide pane windows, it definitely sparks interest to anyone walking by to take a peek inside to find out whats going on. Oh, and we forgot to mention, it's also a wine bar, meaning this might be the next go to place for anyone that wants to grab a drink during happy hour or on the weekend.

We had the pleasure of getting a taste of Saint Lucia with a menu inspired by Nina's native, Saint Lucia and cocoa.
