REVIEW | Fishman Lobster Clubhouse Restaurant - lobster & other seafood with Asian flair

After hearing everyone talk about Fishman Lobster Clubhouse Restaurant, we decided to finally give it a try to see what all the hype was about! Its big bright sign is definitely hard to miss!

We went on a Friday night and made a reservation beforehand. Don't bother heading there on a weekend if you don't have a reservation as the restaurant is quite busy and you'll end up waiting there for a very long time. Even with a reservation, we had to wait around 15-20 minutes.

The menu has many options and is quite confusing if you can't read Chinese since the menu items in English look fairly similar to each other. Depending on your group size, there are combos that you can choose from, whether you want a lobster combo, a crab combo or a lobster & crab combo. You can also choose to order single items from their a la carte menu.

We ended up ordering a combo for 4 people that included soup of the day, 6 lb lobster cooked Hong Kong Style, a 1.5 lb steamed bass, vegetables, oyster mushroom dish and dessert.  We wanted carbs in our dinner so we ordered a lobster roe fried rice separately as well.

We loved the presentation of the Steamed Bass with the soy sauce in a wine sauce on the side. This allows you to cater the saltiness of the fish, which can sometimes have too much salt in it. The fish tasted fresh but it was slightly under cooked as the meat was still sticking to the bone. It was nice to see that the fish was already separated from the bone so you don't have to worry about eating the bones by accident.

The main star of the show was the 6 lb. Lobster Cooked Hong Kong Style. They bring out the fresh lobster to your table before they cook it so you can see how big it is. The lobster is covered in batter and then deep fried and there are mini fried fish at the bottom of the plate as well. It's cooked with an assortment of spices so it has a good kick to the taste. The lobster tasted fresh but we felt it wasn't as sweet as some of the smaller lobsters.

The Green Veggies & Oyster Mushrooms were very crisp yet cooked well. We enjoyed that the veggies were very light and paired well with the other dishes that were a bit on the heavy side. The plate is quite small though so for tables that have lots of veggie eaters, you might have to order another plate!

The Lobster Roe Fried Rice was not bad. It wasn't too oily and there was a good amount of lobster roe, which made the rice more fragrant and tasty. It was a good portion for 4-5 people with small bowls.

Overall, the meal was pretty good and we ended up paying around $50 per person including tax and tip. The food wasn't spectacular and it's more of a one time visit restaurant for the atmosphere and experience. The service was okay, they weren't very informative with the menu and at the end of our meal, we saw the server look at the tip and count it and if you don't give enough you will see their demeanor change instantly.
