REVIEW | Maestro S.V.P. - fresh oysters and extensive wine list in an intimate setting #FSinMontreal

Planning our Montreal trip, I knew Maestro S.V.P. had to be one of the restaurants we visit when I saw their amazing selection of oysters and seafood.  If you follow us, you would know that I'm a huge oyster-fan - Clara prefers them cooked.  Read on to see what we loved about this seafood eatery on Boulevard St-Laurent.

Oyster art!  The many oysters, small and big fill the entrance wall! These are signed by celebrities and public figures that have eaten at the restaurant.  It was such a nice touch (not to mention unique) to showcase how oyster-focused they are and have opened over 9,000,000 oysters so far!

Check out their oyster menu here.

We looked around to see what most people were ordering and it was none other than their popular Maestro Platter!  It is perfect to share between a group as it comes with  an assortment of their specialties: bruschetta, clams, snow crab, mussels, coconut shrimp, calamari, 1/2 lobster, chicken & shrimp satays and sauces. The platter is such a great way to try a wide variety of seafood. We definitely need to go for this next time!

Had to try some of their daily featured oysters, which were super fresh and tasty! Craving them again as I write this post...

South Bay Blonde (Massachusettes),  Ruisseau (Nova Scotia),  Salt Grass (P.E.I) , 2 Beausoleil (New Brunswick)

To start, we got the Mixed Salad with endives, cherry tomatoes, and lemon & honey vinaigrette.  The dressing was delicious and the vegetables were very fresh!  A great start to the rest of our meal.

Next, the Tuna Tartare with Wonton Chips.  The tuna was fresh and tasty. The pieces of onion added a little bit of texture to the raw tuna. Eating it with the wonton chips also gave the tartare a nice crunch!

Clara got the Baked Oysters with Parmesan and caramelized onions.  It's a great alternative dish for people who hate the texture of raw oysters as you still get to enjoy it! The caramelized onions really brought out the sweetness of the oyster.

The Seared Red Tuna was great! I know I should have ordered it rare, but decided to go with medium rare.  It was overcooked when it was served to me, but I didn't complain as it was still very yummy!  It was served with vegetable stir fry and rosemary fingerling potatoes.  I thought the rum & coconut cream sauce tied everything together beautifully.

Maestro S.V.P. also offers happy hours with $18 for a dozen shucked oysters and $16 all-you-can-eat mussel nights on Sundays and Thursdays! We definitely saw people taking advantage of the all you can eat mussels as it was such a good deal! Too bad we didn't get to try those, but it's on our list for our next Montreal visit!

The staff was very attentive and friendly, which made this restaurant stand out more to us. If you're in Montreal, definitely eat here, especially if you're a seafood-lover.
