Cold-pressing has been around for decades but it wasn't until late 2012 - early 2013 that Toronto started catching on to this new "trend" and saw a boost of juice bars dedicated to providing one-bottle meals full of super-foods. Yorkville welcomed The Good Press to their swanky neighbourhood this season and is quickly becoming a go-to for a quick snack or even a meal alternative.
Tucked away at 87 Yorkville Ave. The Good Press is opened everyday from 8 AM to 8 PM offering everything from cold-pressed juices, smoothies, elixir shots, açai bowls, salads, and even popsicles. Talk about a menu, right?! On my quick visit last Sunday, I picked up only a few items. Most of their cold-press bottled juices (pressed fresh every morning) were sold out so I only had 3 flavours to choose from! So, make sure you go bright & early for already-bottled juices.
With their open-concept design of the store, you can watch their "juiceologists" work their magic to create a delicious & nutrient-packed smoothie for you.
Picked up the Pure Watermelon & Ruby Tuesday (beet, carrot, apple, ginger, lemon) for myself!

Also got the Black Beauty made-to-order smoothie to go! This 'beauty' is made from a whole kale, wild blueberry, apple and spirulina. It was quite delicious and had a more juice-like consistency than a thick and creamy smoothie.
Visiting the store, talking to the friendly staff and trying these juices myself, I have no doubt that The Good Press is going be forming a lineup of juice-lovers out the door, especially since their menu is something you can quickly pick-up and go.
I am not one to do a cold-pressed juice cleanse or have a smoothie in replacement of a meal (juicing has no scientific back-up of it being more healthy or "better" for you than actually eating the fruit or vegetables in natural form) but for a snack or a cold drink on a hot summer day? Definitely!
