The Drake One Fifty is on its way... tomorrow! Finally, the much anticipated new restaurant by The Drake, meticulously designed by Jeff Stober is opening its doors to the public on October 2nd with Chef Ted Corrado's signature menu. Just yesterday, we were invited for a sneak peak of the gorgeous new space, cocktails and some of the menu items.
Located in the heart of the financial district, Drake One Fifty greets you with gigantic glass doors, wall of New York warehouse steel-framed windows, Brothers Dressler-designed wooden pergola, mixture of postmodern leather booths, handmade geometric Moroccan tiles, and a retro photobooth all coming together for Drake's signature contemporary-meets-classic atmosphere.
The contradictions of old and new, high and low are evident in every corner of the restaurant - it's all in the details. I especially loved the alcove by the bar with installations of Douglas Coupland.
Some hors d'oeuvres and cocktails were served as media arrived to the preview event:
We were impressed by the Seafood Tower with crab legs, oysters, lobster, mussels, clams and shrimp. Also enjoyed charcuterie boards of meats and cheeses.
We were also served the following, which will be available on their menu!
Scallop Crudo served on a spoon
Grilled Octopus Antipesto with red pepper and onion
Beef Tartar on a potato chip - this was the best tartar I've ever had
Margherita pizza
After some cocktails and appetisers, we were seated in the dining area with red & green plush booths with wooden tables. We couldn't wait to try what Chef Ted Corrado prepared for us.
Burrata Salad with roasted radicchio, grapes, almonds and black garlic dressing
Ricotta Gnocchi with broccoli pesto and roasted pine nuts
Confit Lamb Shoulder with potatoes, eggplant, green beans, greek yogurt and chili paste
Lemon Tart with toasted marshmallow, honey-chamomile caramel and grapefruit wafer

Now, for some beautiful photos of the space:
On your way out, be sure to take home a little something from the Drake General Store.
Special thanks to The Drake Hotel, Rock It Promo, and Chef Ted Corrado for a wonderful night of art, culinary creations and cocktails!
The Financial District has a new kid on the block and it's sure to be the coolest one of all.
- We were invited to this event as media, thus our meal was complimentary but our opinions remain honest -
