REVIEW | Hannah's Kitchen - old fashioned comfort food at it's finest

This gem of a place is a popular go-to at lunch time for those working in the Yonge & Eglinton area.  With fresh & delicious daily specials to entice anyone's taste buds, it's no surprise Hannah's Kitchen has been Midtown's favourite since 1990.

Just South of Eglinton on Yonge, it's one of the smaller shops on the block.  Even though it's smaller in size, there's plenty of room for diners to eat inside.

Once you walk in, you'll notice the counter full of baked goods, healthy salads, savoury soups, pasta, you name it!  They also offer sandwiches, which are to die for.  Their portions are big so you definitely get fresh-made quality home-food at a great price.

Hannah's daily specials include a few option for soups, pasta dish and two 'main' dishes.  I usually get half size soup and half size pasta or a salad.

The soups here are not your average soups, but made with the best ingredients that you wouldn't think went together.  Don't get me wrong, they make a mean split pea soup too.  Some of the best soups I've had here are: Moroccan Lentil Chick Pea Soup, Potato Avocado Soup, and Parsnip Sweet Potato Soup...just to name a few.

I die for all the different salads they have.  They have the same menu for salads everyday - bowtie, couscous, beets, crab, pesto fusili, greek, chickpeas, spinach and garden.  I can't choose a favourite, because they're all tasty!  You've got to try them all.

On this particular visit, I got the 1/2 soup & 1/2 pasta option.  Chicken Wonton for soup and Roasted Veggie Fusili for pasta. It seems like a weird combination, but I like to have a bit of each option!

The Wonton pieces were very yummy as it was stuffed with just the right amount of chicken.  The broth was hearty as well.  The pasta was great, as per usual.  Hannah's really has the "home cooked comfort food" to the tee!

Hannah's Kitchen Meals I've had in the past:

Spinach Salad & Meat Lasagna

Chicken Pesto Fusili & Roasted Veggie Penne

Mac & Cheese & Garden Salad

Bowtie Pasta Salad & Curried Veggie Peanut Soup (THE BEST)

If you're not aware of this place, it's hands-down the best place for the Home Made Comfort Food that you must try.

Unfortunately with all the condo construction going on in this area, the entire block has been bought by a Condo Company and Hannah's will be closing its doors by 2014...  So, do try and get a piece of their yummy food before it's too late!

Tip: if you're like me and want to taste a bit of everything, go for the 1/2 portions!
