RECIPE | Soba Noodle Salad with Roasted Sweet Chili Salmon

Noodle salads are one of my favourite dishes to make at home. They are easy to prepare and the ingredient options are limitless! All you need are fresh vegetables, some noodles, and protein. Soba is my go-to along with shrimps or chicken. This time around, I decided to try the pre-cooked and ready to eat salmon from our friends at The Saucy Fish Co.

The Saucy Fish Co. offers a variety of fish and sauce pairings an available at all Superstore in Canada. The pre-cooked and ready to eat products are perfect for those that don’t have a lot of time to cook but still wants to enjoy a savoury meal.

Celebrating Chinese New Year with the help of Real Canadian Superstore

Things usually feel a bit dreary after Christmas is over, when there are no more Christmas songs to listen to and when it's time to officially take down that Christmas tree - in February. Luckily for us, we have Chinese New Years to celebrate! It's based on the Lunar calendar and usually changes every year and this year we're celebrating it on February 16th, 2018.

Chinese New Years is a big deal. It's one of the only times our family ventures out of Mississauga to visit relatives and family friends to give them well wishes for the upcoming year and as a child, the best part of Chinese New Years were the red pockets. Now that I have an actual salary (that goes directly to bills), I'm appreciating the cultural aspects of the holiday more and enjoying the food a lot more.

Quite honestly, preparing everything for Chinese New Years can be quite time consuming. We're lucky to have an abundant number of Chinese grocery stores in Mississauga but I collect PC points so I absolutely love that I can get everything I need at Real Canadian Superstore.

Chinese dishes always seemed so complicated to me as my mother never wanted to pass down her age-old secrets, but it actually ended up being really easy. It doesn't cost a lot to make, and the best part of going to Real Canadian Superstore is that you can pick up authentic brands like T&T and Rooster to create these classic dishes.

All these products are available year-round and the list goes on. Not only can you find classic Asian kitchen staples, you can find fresh vegetables like bok choy there as well! Some other staples that we love to pick up at Real Canadian Superstore is the Rooster condensed milk (goes GREAT with toast), Ovaltine malt drink and the Nong Shim Shrimp-flavoured chips, just to name a few!

I tried making Red Braised Pork Belly for the first time and I was pretty happy with the results.

TRAVEL | Our much needed getaway to Viamede Resort

It's almost been 5 years since we started the blog and it's been a whirlwind adventure to say the least. As much as we love it, it can be tiring to work our 9-5 jobs and be out all night for events only to hit repeat the next day. We eagerly jumped on an opportunity to spend a weekend away at Viamede Resort to get some rest and relaxation.

RECIPE| Celebrating Cinco de Mayo with Old El Paso

Happy Cinco de Mayo! We love that we can can celebrate it on a Friday this year! What better way to celebrate than with taco night with friends and Old El Paso?

We love entertaining but with a big group it can be daunting and tiring to cook and clean for so many people. With the help of Old El Paso, we were about to cut down the prep and clean time to spend more time with our friends!

RECIPE| Meal Prep made easy with Old El Paso!

The FoodSisterhood kitchen has been pretty quiet lately while we’ve been out and about in Toronto. While it’s great that we’ve been trying new things, it also means that we’ve become a little lazy with bringing lunches to work.

One of the main reasons for that is because there aren’t enough hours in a day to work 9-5, get a little exercise in and be able to cook and clean. We finally set aside some time on Sundays and with the help of a few OldEl Paso products, we were able to meal prep for the week ahead in a short amount of time!

REVIEW | The Good Son

The Good Son has always been on our list of places to visit for one of three reasons:

1. We love the Queen West neighbourhood;
2. We've watched Chef Vittorio Colacitti's journey on Top chef Canada; and
3. We heard the food was amazing!

REVIEW | Hawthorne Food & Drink

I guess we're a little late for New Years Resolutions but if we're making changes to improve ourselves, who cares when we make it, right? Ever since we started this blog in 2014, we have been so fortunate to meet amazing people who share the same love for food as we do and have been to so many amazing restaurants in Toronto. This year for us will be about spending more time with the people we care about and doing things that give back to the community that we're so thankful to be a part of.

We were able to do just that by having dinner at Hawthorne Food & Drink with our foodie friends GoodFoodToronto and GoodFoodJess :)

RECIPES | Board Games, Wine & Fun Mexican Recipes

Happy New Year! How hard was it to go back to work after having that week long vacation? It's never enough when it comes to having free time during the holidays to spend time with friends and family, but c'est la vie, right?

It's still a bit cold to be out and about, so hosting a Game Night (board night, sports games, you name it) is a fun alternative. What’s our favourite game? Scrabble!

REVIEW | Brassaii - Brunch

Let's be honest. There's no shortage when it comes to brunch spots in the city - the only problem is... the lines, especially at places that do not take reservations. Brassaii is known more for nightlife - dinner, cocktails, bottle service and music but they actually have great brunch selections during the day. Plus, they take reservations!

REVIEW | Pi Co. Pizza

We all know that there's a LOT of options when it comes to pizza in Toronto. We haven't even come close to trying all of them as there's a new pizza shop popping up every few months! There are obviously differences - gourmet, brick oven, fast food, DIY, gluten-free, thin/thick crust, etc. the list is endless. When it comes to Pi Co. it's the perfect compromise in between all of that. It's a custom pizza that's authentic and cooked in minutes in a brick oven. The best part is that it's fast!

REVIEW | Food Nook Tours - Roncesvalles

Toronto is made of many unique neighbourhoods, each with their own history, culture - not to mention restaurants and bars. It wasn't until Bria's Food Nook Tour that I actually spent an entire Saturday afternoon in Roncesvalles, where she took us to 5 shops and taught us all about the area.

REVIEW | Ki Modern Japanese + Bar

We spent one Monday evening at Ki Modern Japanese + Bar in Brookfield Place for dinner and drinks. Located in the heart of the financial district, we weren't surprised to see so many people in suits. The restaurant is quite modern (as it says in its name) and chic and has that downtown bustle and liveliness, even on a weeknight. Not to spoil our experience in the first paragraph, but we're still thinking about the Dassai Sake we had with the Sake Sommelier!

REVIEW | Light Cafe

We find Baldwin Village to be a street in Toronto that is ever growing. You'll never know what to expect in terms of businesses that will pop up! Not to mention it's diverse food culture including gelato, ramen, Italian, Filipino food and so much more. It doesn't surprise us at all that Light Cafe decided to take residence on Baldwin.

RECIPE | What to serve this holiday season when entertaining & hosting

With everyone’s busy schedules, we find that it’s getting harder to schedule time with family and friends. Especially with the holidays coming up, the weekends are filling up fast with holiday parties and get-togethers.

We’ve been trying to spend quality time with everyone and what better way to do that than cooking and eat together?

REVIEW | Té

Toronto Real Estate is no joke and many other like us find it a struggle to keep up with a social life style and be able to afford the rent at the first of every month. Restaurants are no different and they face the same struggles if not more trying to keep up with the expenses.

It should come as no surprise then that many restaurants come and go and sometimes it can be hard to keep up with what's new. We're especially excited that Te has opened up in the Ossington area and is a place we can go to for food and late night eats.

DINNER IDEAS | Date night with friends

Some nights in our new home call for extravagant dinners that take a few hours to prep and clean while some nights call for easy prep meals that feel like fancy dinners. Those are the nights when we would rather stay in and watch one or two movies on Netfliix. Thankfully Old El Paso (OEP) has us covered for the easy prep nights with all their taco kits.

DINNER IDEAS | Shrimp & Steak Fajitas with Old El Paso

Last Friday, I had my sister over for a girls night in. Basically, the perfect excuse to eat copious amounts of food and binge watch chick flicks. We had the movies down, but deciding on what to cook for ourselves was a challenge. I had an Old El Paso kit in the pantry, so we agreed on a #TacoNight!

Two Friends, One Fiesta & a Whole Lot of Food & Drinks in #the6ix

We just recently moved downtown and needless to say, the food possibilities are endless! As much as we love living downtown, the one thing we do miss is having a car. Everything downtown is easily accessible but there's nothing like getting into a car and knowing you'll be where you need to go without any delays!

We were fortunate enough to take the Ford Fiesta around the 6ix for a big foodie adventure! Keep reading to find out where we ventured off to!
