Fried chicken is probably one of Korea's most popular late-night eats and in Korea, they're readily available with delivery and countless numbers of restaurants for it. Unfortunately in Toronto, there's only a handful of restaurants that specialize in this dish. One of them, which I personally think is the best in the city is called The Fry. Both of The Fry's locations are on located on Yonge, one on Sheppard and the other, North of Finch.
We went to the new location at Sheppard and Yonge. The space isn't that big but has enough seating area to cater to couples and smaller groups. They specialize in Fried Chicken & Beer, so that's what we ordered when we went.
It was love at first bite with my first visit!

Trio of side dishes to go with fried chicken - salad, white pickled radish, and macaroni salad. These can be refilled on request.
Don't expect the smaller wings you get at some places, these are BIG pieces of chicken and 3-4 will fill you up. The small size (pictured above) is enough for two people to share. When you order the large size, it's basically just two smalls.
When you order the large size, you can ask for half-half, which means that you will get half portion with the sauce, and half portion without.
Ever since I took a bite out of The Fry's chicken wings, other wings I have just don't cut it. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy them, but not as much as the Korean spicy wings here. I definitely recommend that you try Korean Fried Chicken here as it will change your 'food' life!
Ohmygosh, did they take over the space that used to be an Italian restaurant? I was wondering what kind of menu they served. Now knowing it's KFC...need to go!
ReplyDeleteYes! It used to be a spot called armando's italian! Definitely check it out - you'll love it :)
