Pho House - there's nothing like a good bowl of Vietnamese Pho noodles

Who doesn't love PHO? Pho is definitely one of our favourite dishes that we crave on a cold day.  As many of you know, Pho is a traditional Vietnamese rice noodle dish with broth, beef, bean sprouts and cilantro.  It's really delicious as any meal of the day (breakfast on weekends for hangovers) and most places have them at such affordable prices.

We went to a local favourite  in Etobicoke called 'Pho House' that specializes in Vietnamese AND Thai cuisine. We especially like this location because it's super close to where Monica lives and this plaza (six points plaza) tends to be our meeting spot.

This place is at a great location, just steps from Kipling Station and ten minute drive from the gardiner, QEW and highway 427.  There should never be a problem to get here.  After eating, may we suggest Starbucks for coffee since it's right beside the restaurant?

There's lots of seating, the service is very efficient and fast.  You usually never wait to get a seat even though it's busy in there.  The kitchen is near the back, washroom's down the stairs, and the bar is by the kitchen.  They have booths and tables along the walls with some tables in the middle.

As an appetizer, we tried their Salad Wrap, which has pork, vermicelli noodles and lettuce wrapped in rice paper.  Simply dip this in the Hoisin Sauce topped with peanuts.  It's light, refreshing and delicious.

The main dish - Pho (pronounced "fuh").  There's many variety of pho.  They all have the same broth and noodles but you can choose what meat parts that you get.  We like to get the simple noodles with rare beef slices (order number P5).  Other pho-fenatics do go for tripes and tendons (how brave).

The broth is very hearty and flavourful with chewy noodles.  Add some hot sauce for those who like a little spiciness in their noodle soup.  They sell the bowls here in a few different sizes: Small, Medium, Large and XLarge (not sure).  Small is pretty small so I would suggest going for the Medium size as a meal.

Their Cantonese Chow Mein is delicious as well.  I get the crispy noodles, but for those who prefer non crispy, that's available as well.  There's a bounty of veggies and sauce and whatever meat you choose.

Sidenote:  I would avoid bubble tea's here.  They use powder for flavour and charge an extra $1 for Tapioca that is not fresh/chewy.  Their real frui slush is better.... but once I found a piece of metal scrub in there... They gave me my money back but I wouldn't order it again.  Don't get me wrong, they're really nice people and offer great service - it was probably just a cleaning mistake.
