REVIEW | Gladstone Hotel's Cafe

Queen street is one Toronto's streets that has so much to offer, not just for tourists but for locals as well. With charm, style, and plenty of shops and parks to take a stop by, you will find something new every time you take a walk through all the neighbourhoods branching off it.  Celebrating its 126th birthday, The Gladstone Hotel is definitely not a stranger to Torontonians as you have probably visited for food, drinks or even a staycation!  Last week, I stopped by for dinner at the hotel's cafe - for the first time!

The area to the left of the lobby when you enter through the front doors, is called the Gladstone Hotel Cafe, not to be confused with the diner across the street, also named "Gladstone Cafe."

The hotel is definitely a piece of Toronto's history and you'll see that in his characteristic brick walls, large windows and wall fixtures but you will also notice the influence of art and culture in this boutique hotel.

The Gladstone Hotel's Cafe recently launched new brunch, lunch and dinner menus and I was pretty excited to get a bite of some of their dinner menu items. See below for what I had!

Monforte Cheese ($12.00)
with Bauman Apiaries honey, sourdough & black walnuts

The Tower Suite Burger ($17.00)
Monforte cheddar, bacon, horseradish mayo & grilled red onions

Steak Frites ($26.00)
Grilled ribeye, roasted seasonal vegetables, chimichurri sauce

Ice Cream Sandwich ($7.00)
housemade cookies, Ed's Real Scoop ice cream & strawberries

As the hotel itself prides itself on supporting its local community, it was also evident in some of the menu items such as the use of cheese from Stratford's Monforte Dairy. We really enjoyed the starter that used both soft and hard cheese from there as well as the cheese in my burger!

The steak frites was a hit for both myself and my friend. Oh, I can't forget about those friends that accompanied both our dishes - they were perfection, dipped in the garlic mayo sauce!

Taking a stroll through Queen West? Stop by the Gladstone Hotel's Cafe for some grub or that amazing ice cream sandwich - you won't regret it.
