Messini Authentic Gyros had their grand opening for their Yonge & Eglinton location on Monday after the long anticipation. To celebrate the grand opening, they were giving away free gyro's to the public!
When we got there for lunch, there was already a line formed outside the restaurant (yikes).
When you go in, you can see the different types of meat (yum). There are three meats you can choose from: Pork, Chicken or lamb. Judging by the sizes of the meats beine shaven off, lamb was the popular choice! I got chicken though... :)
The toppings were kept simple for the gyros: tzatziki sauce, chopped onions, sliced tomatoes and lettuce. I had to omit onions for this meal since it was my lunch break and I would be working after.. however, I couldn't resist the tzatziki sauce!
There's adamant space to dine in with nice furniture. It looks kind of empty - but then again, they may be adding more seatings later on. Overall, the place had a very clean and roomy atmosphere. I definitely want to try their other dishes and dine in house.

They put the fries in the gyro (apparently this is the "classic" and "original" to serve gyros.
Personally, I prefer no fries as it made the gyro kind of dry near the last few bites when there was no more tzatziki sauce left in the gyro.
Definitely try this place for a quick bite at lunch or dinner as it's delicious and satisfying!
