Jack Astor's - the great Canadian poutine

After meeting people from different countries while travelling, it's become pretty clear that poutine is really just a Canadian favourite....not many other people have heard of it and it's definitely one of the things I missed most while living abroad.

Having said that, it's only fitting that one of my first meals out after coming home is a poutine. My friend told me that Jack Astors just recently added poutine to their menu so I figured I'd give it a try. They have three different kinds, Chicken BLT, Montreal Smoked Meat and Spicy Sausage. My friend and I got Chicken BLT and Spicy Sausage.

This one was the spicy sausage - the name doesn't lie, it's pretty spicy and has a lot of sauce! If you like a good kick in your food this is definitely the one to choose!

My friend ordered the Chicken BLT, definitely looks healthier than the spicy sausage, with the tomatoes and lettuce. I tried it and found it to be a bit more dry than the spicy sausage one.

Overall, both poutines were not bad, definitely not your traditional gravy and cheese curds but if you're looking for a little something different, it's certainly a good option and a good restaurant atmosphere! Price was reasonable as well, ranging from $8-9 depending on which one you get!
